Explains the mechanism that utilizes the property that when current flows through a coil, it becomes a magnet (Self-induction).

■Solenoid valve

A solenoid valve is a valve whose position is controlled magnetically, and is also used in engine injectors, hydraulic valves, etc.

■Electromagnetic relay, contactor

An electromagnetic relay is a mechanism that can switch the current ON/OFF using a solenoid. By simply passing a small current through the solenoid (excitation side), a large current can flow through the circuit on the switch side.

Contactors operate on the same principle as electromagnetic relays, but can pass a larger current than electromagnetic relays. As shown below, it has a larger mechanism than an electromagnetic relay.
